Feliz martes!! Hoy les traigo un post de lo más casual y turístico. Los que me siguen por mis redes sociales (Instagram o Snapchat) habrán visto que el fin de semana pasado hice una visita flash a Stamford en Inglaterra. Como buena tía que soy me tocó acompañar a mi sobrino hasta allá para unos cursos que hará durante un mes, y como verdaderamente el pueblo era súper bonito aproveché para hacerme algunas fotos informales y así poder compartirlas con ustedes por aquí. Stamford es de esas pequeñas localidades pero súper pintorescas con edificios de piedra y de madera que datan del siglo XVII y XVIII, además de 5 iglesias medievales que te transportan al pasado, no en vano se lo conoce como el “mejor pueblo de piedra de Inglaterra”. Ahí se han rodado varias películas de época como Orgullo y Prejuicio y otras más actuales como el Código Da Vinci. Otro de sus atractivos y que queda a tan sólo unos kilómetros (nosotros fuimos a pie) es la Casa Burghley, uno de los principales ejemplos de la arquitectura Inglesa Isabelina y que fue construida por Lord William Cecil (Lord Tesorero Mayor y Primer Ministro de la Reina Isabel I ) entre 1555 and 1587. Lastimosamente sólo pudimos verla por fuera ya que hasta el 19 de Marzo no la abren, pero tiene unos jardines verdaderamente impresionantes donde ves a la gente paseando y hasta haciendo picnics. Además que viniendo desde el aeropuerto de Stansted, este acogedor pueblo está a tan sólo dos paradas después de Cambridge y una de Peterborough. En fin, les dejo algunas fotos del domingo que fue cuando aprovechamos a turistear, y por supuesto mi look que como imaginarán fue de lo más cómodo y sencillo.
Happy Tuesday!! Today’s post is super casual and touristic. The ones that follow me on my social medias (Instagram, Snapchat) saw that last weekend I went to Stamford in England. It was a flash trip to leave my nephew in a one month football training. Since the town was really cute I decided to do some informal pictures so I can share them with you here. Stamford is one of those small but picturesque towns with 17th and 18th-century stone buildings, older timber-framed buildings and five medieval parish churches that take you back in time, no wonder it is consider the «finest stone town in England«. This cozy town has been idyllic enough to have formed the backdrop for the 2005 film Pride & Prejudice or more modern films like Da Vinci Code. Another touristic place located a few miles from town center is the Burghley House (we went walking). Built and mostly designed by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, between 1555 and 1587, it is a grand 16th-century country house and a leading example of the Elizabethan prodigy house. Pitifully we were only able to see the exterior of the house since until march 19th it remains close, but it has such an amazing park, perfect for weekend strolls or picnics. Also, if you come from Stansted airport it is two train stops after Cambridge and one after Peter Peterborough. I leave you with some pictures of my Sunday look were we decided to see the town and as you can imagine my outfit was pretty simple and comfy.
Por cierto, el pueblo es bastante pequeño y tiene pocos hoteles pero nosotros nos quedamos en el Crown Hotel y verdaderamente se los recomiendo, es un lugar súper acogedor y todos los que atienden son un encanto, eso sí, lo están reformando así que asegúrense de pedir las habitaciones reformadas, la nuestra era monísima.
By the way, since the town is pretty small it does not have many hotels. We stayed at The Crown Hotel and it was pretty good and cozy, but since it is being renovating, make sure you ask for the renovated rooms, our was fantastic.

PD: la mejor forma de llegar es a través del aeropuerto de Stansted que queda a una hora y media en tren.

But it was fun, specially since he lives so far from me that it was a great weekend to share some moments with him, even that after all the pics he has to take me I’m sure that for a while he would avoid travelling with his «blogger in process auntie»!! hahaha
