Look of the Week: On our way to the Cliffs of Moher

Feliz domingo!! Hoy quería mostrarles otro look que llevé durante mi visita a Irlanda. Un look cómodo y calentito, con prendas básicas, ideales para turistear, aguantar el viento y la lluvia que nos tocó a ratos esquivar ese día.  El 31 de diciembre decidimos ir a visitar los famosos acantilados de Moher, sin duda uno de los lugares más visitados de este país y con razón, ya que a pesar de que nos llovío un poco a lo largo del camino valió la pena poder ver el último atardecer del 2014 desde ese maravilloso lugar. Debido a que queda a unas cuantas horas de Dublín ese día nos tocó madrugar por eso disculparan mi cara (jeje). De camino a nuestro destino final hicimos varias paradas. Unas de las que más me gustó y en la cual aprovechamos a hacer algunas fotos fue la abadía de Corcomroe. Un monasterio cisterciense de comienzos del siglo XII situado en el norte de Burren y que es conocido por sus esculturas y su rica ornamentación, que no eran habituales en esa época.

Happy Sunday!! Today I want to show you an outfit that I wore during my visit to Ireland. A comfy and cozy look, with basic garments, perfect to make tourism, resist the rain and wind that we had that day. On December 31st we decided to visit the famous Cliffs of Moher. One of the most visited places in this country and no wonder, they are just amazing! Despite the rain and the wind it really worth it because we had the opportunity to see the last sunset of 2014 from here. Since it is located a little far from Dublin we had to wake up pretty early, this explains my face, so apologies for it!! hahaha! On the way to our final destination we make some stops. One of my favorites was the Corcomroe Abbey, there we made some pictures. An early 13th century Cirtescian monastery located in the north of the Burren region. This abbey is noted for its details carvings and other rich ornamentation, which are not commonly found in structures from this period.

Nuestra siguiente parada, y para ya irnos abriendo boca a lo que venía, fueron los que se conocen como «baby cliffs o «pequeños acantilados». Justo ahí empezó a lloviznar un poco e hizo un viento de locura que casi salgo volando, pero igual, un lugar precioso y digno de fotografiar!

Our next stop, and this one was a little slice of what it will come, were the «baby cliffs». At that moment it started to rain a bit and it was so windy that I almost fly away, but no matter that it was a remarkable place to be and be photographed.

Luego hicimos una parada rápida para comer en el típico restaurante irlandés en donde probé un roast beef que estaba buenísimo por cierto!

After that we did a quick stop for lunch in a typical Irish bar and there I had a roast beef that was quite good!

Finalmente, y luego de casi 4 horas y varias paradas por lugares divinos llegamos a nuestro destino final, los espectaculares acantilados de Moher. Cómo había llovido habían partes que estaba bastantes enlodadas pero como por suerte había ido con mi botas Hunter no tuve problemas y me metí por todos lados. 😉 Estos acantilados se elevan 120 metros sobre el Altlántico en el punto llamado Hag’s Head y se extienden a lo largo de 8 km. hasta alcanzar 214 metros.

Finally and after almost 4 hours of trip and several stops over nice places we arrived to our destination, the extraordinaries Cliffs of Moher. Since it has rained everything was muddy but as I was wearing my Hunter boots I was able to go though everywhere without any problem. 😉 This cliffs rise 120 meter above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag’s Head, and reach their maximum heigh of 2014 meter.

Aproximadamente en la mitad de los acantilados se encuentra una torre circular llamada la Torre O’Brien y que fue construida en el 1835 como mirador para los turistas que acudían al lugar incluso en aquel tiempo.

Near the mid point is a round stone tower called O’Brien’s Tower, It was built in 1835 as a viewpoint for the visitor that went even in that time.

Y termino con esta foto, mi última puesta de sol del 2014. Sin duda me considero afortunada por haber podido estar ahí en este lugar impresionante y acompañada por mi familia. Si así acabo el 2014 no quiero ni imaginar como acabaré este y todo lo que depara!!! 😉

And I finish with this pic, my last sunset of 2014. I consider my self lucky for having being able to be in this place on that day with my family. If this is how I ended the last day of 2014 I’m looking forward to see how I will end this one and all the things that it will bring me!! 😉

  13. Such a stunning view! And I’m so with ya, you are so lucky to watch the sunset with your loved ones 🙂 I wish I could haha! I’m glad you enjoyed your stay there and I didn’t go to the Cliffs of Moher when I was in Dublin, but I’d love to visit it! Your coat is btw very beautiful!
